Dog Obedience Training

The first and most important thing for new Dog owners is to put the Puppy into Dog Obedience Training Class. They will definitely run into Situations at unusual times in their life, where the training of how to behave will be priceless. Some Owners feel they want to do the Dog Obedience Training themselves. Let me give you a short run down of what the training consists of, to help you decide if your Dog could benefit from a Dog Obedience Training Class.

Benefits of Obedience Training

Specific Commands, delivered consistently, will make Obedience Training simple, because your Dog will learn to respond rapidly. That also means you will discover how to give those commands. Many People do not hold up their end of the Bargain when they become Dog owners. The Burden does not lie with the Dog, but the owner. Think of dog obedience training as a two way street and it will be far more compelling. Here are some examples.

Leadership

In obedience training, you will learn how to assert your dominance over the dogs to show them that you are in charge at all times and that they must listen to you. If these behaviors are replicated in your home, the dogs will have a much easier time following your lead.  Alpha leadership is the cornerstone of all good training.

Your Dog will learn to sit, stay, be quiet and heel in basic Training, which will be the Foundation for future learning. These four behaviors will form the basis of everything you need to teach them. Tricks will come later.

No Biting or Barking

Two of the biggest problems that a dog can have are biting and barking. These Behaviors require a much higher level of obedience, which can be achieved with persistence. As soon as possible, biting must be addressed.

Walking

Enjoy taking your Dog for his Walk. If your Dog has proper Preparation, you will be controlling his Movement and Speed. Do not allow him to run around you. Make him sit and wait at the Street crossing or when another animal approaches.

The Foundation of suitable Obedience Training will help resolve many issues at the very start and provide for a happy Home. Starting with an Obedience Class can even help correct bad Behavior, that an older Dog may already have.

Carrying it Forward at Home

Learning Obedience is the Start of a happy Dog and Owner. The few Commands that the Dog learned in Dog Obedience Training have to be repeated and extended at home. Be consistent and show your Dog, that at all times you are the Leader and the Rest of your Family has to do the same.

Remember that your dog will only do what it is taught to do. You must be consistent, reassuring and effective at maintaining the commands you give. The second you start waffling or forgetting to reassert your commands, your dog will start to revert to the original behaviors that you worked so hard to train them out of.
